Wrist Arthroscopy in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Wrist pain after a fall on an outstretched hand is frequently dismissed as a sprain. If it persists beyond a few weeks the cause is usually a TFCC tear or a scapholunate ligament injury - both of which are best diagnosed and treated arthroscopically.

- Gold-standard diagnosis for unexplained wrist pain
- TFCC repair and debridement
- Arthroscopic ganglion excision with low recurrence
- Assisted reduction of distal radius fractures
Signs your wrist needs a closer look
- Pain on the little-finger side when twisting a key or opening a door
- Clicking or clunking with forearm rotation
- Weak grip and pain pushing up from a chair
- Swelling or a lump on the back of the wrist
- Pain persisting more than six weeks after a fall
What arthroscopy can treat
A 1.9 mm camera inspects the joint surfaces and ligaments directly - something MRI can miss. Central TFCC tears are debrided, peripheral tears are repaired with sutures, and ganglion cysts are removed from their stalk, which lowers recurrence compared with open excision.
In distal radius fractures, arthroscopy confirms that the joint surface has been restored to within a millimetre, reducing the risk of later arthritis.
After surgery
A splint is worn for one to four weeks depending on what was done. Typing and light desk work resume within two weeks; heavy gripping and gym work at eight to twelve weeks.
Unexplained wrist pain with a normal MRI is a common reason patients travel from across Gujarat - Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Gandhinagar included - for a diagnostic arthroscopy opinion.
Frequently asked questions
Is wrist arthroscopy done under general anaesthesia?
Usually a regional block of the arm is enough, so you stay awake and go home the same day.
Will my ganglion come back?
Recurrence is much lower after arthroscopic excision of the cyst stalk than after aspiration with a needle.
My MRI is normal but my wrist still hurts. What now?
MRI misses a proportion of TFCC and ligament tears. Diagnostic arthroscopy is the definitive test and treatment can be done in the same sitting.
